Controversial issues

Just got to know a friend recently & i was made to realise some facts going on out there ,beyond my world of discovery. Do people enjoy buying branded goods alot? Personally, i buy stuff for the goods itself and not going for the brand.it may just be something i see along the streets[even at pasarmalam] & probably sold at an unbelievably cheapo price, but as long as it catches my eyes,I'll still get it. I do not mind people recognising it from some ulu ulu streets when I have it on me.However, if i were to see something which i fancy & it's a branded good,i'll still save up to buy it. So it's like, i like the goods & thts why i'm buying them. Not because i'm being materialistic. Does it mean tht somepeople will be classified as Cheapskates just because they happen to not be interested in branded goods?I do see loads&loads of people looking just as good or even better in clothes i see at,prolly Bugis streets? So it's fashion sense that we're talking bout here.Different taste & different ways to espress yourself. Not tht i'm against buying branded goods, but does it guaranteed you better looks/status? Or isit just a way to tell people that i'm filthy rich? So i super hate it when people ask me this question. Where you bought this, WHAT BRAND ONE? & when it happens to be smth i bought from some nameless shop, my questioner will give me the look liek as though i'm doign something weird & say Why you buy from there sia? Buy from the XXX[somefking branded shop]la! But tht would likely be the last time i'll talk to him/her. And another story i've heard from this friend of mine is about his princessy ex-girlfriend & i 'm totally awed. As the name goes,[i've nvr seen her before]i can picture her as the typical rich daughter of some overnight millionaire & probably go to balls in her pumpkin-turned-into carriage with her fairy god mother kissing her gooodbye from behind & maybe just tht she doesnt have a curfew@ 12 & not as forgetful to leave her heel behind. Okay tht's too fairytale-ly Anyw,I was told tht she doesnt eat at Hawker centres. CAN SOMEONE TELL ME WHY? Is it like the atmospheric air there is infected with contagious virus? or the tables & chairs there inhabit pests which brings unhygenic materials & do harm to their ever so tender skin? i believe there are similar girls out there who dont eat at hawker centres even if they're not given a choice.I'm really puzzled lor. Not like i purposely seek for a hawker centre to have my meals all the time but it's just tht i would never min dhaving a meal there though it can be stuffy & noisy & really crowded at times. Obviously it cannot be compared to those high class refined restaurants[whr the anti-hawkercentre visits] which have aircon& people serving you.You can even get yourself isolated in a corner reading a book while listening to the classical oldies without being disturbed. But thts just the environment la! There're some reeeeeeeally good food tht you can only find at the local hawkercentres & you just cant miss them! aw, i'm getting hungry. ANYWAY, maybe i just dont understand how these rich brats, opps, i mean people, think. Like get their servants to roll carpet from car door to hawker centres thn thy walk carefully towards a table while their servants continue spraying deodorant all the way.One of them would probably be holding on to a portable aircon. Then the table& seats will be disinfected with imported cleansers & tested with some chemical tester to make sure tht the acidic content is neutralised & thn the Daxiaojie can finally sit down.Thn they'll take out their sterilised utensils and send an order form to the bakchormee stall: please use usa imported low fat pork.
